Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne Injured

He came on for 30 minutes last weekend, just in time to see Bernardo Silva double the Blues lead. It was meant to be a slow introduction back into the pace of the Premier League for KDB, who had just returned to the side.

Having been part of the Belgium side to secure third spot in the recent World Cup, his subsequent vacation had seen him miss taking part in the Community Shield victory seven days prior. He would surely have got his first start this weekend against Huddersfield before injuring himself during training.
News, after the initial statement, has been slow to non-existent from the club. Reports early on were that it could be similar to an injury he'd picked up against Everton a couple of seasons ago.

That time the injury kept him out for a large majority of the season. City fans would hope it wouldn't be as serious and that the Ginger wonder returns sooner rather than later.

Unlike then though, City are in a much better situation for coping without Kevin this time around. The style of football Pep Guardiola has City playing is irresistable and the ex Barcelona coach has a wealth of talent who can take the strain.

Bernardo Silva would be most likely to come into that position centrally, alongside Gundogan possibly. David Silva or even the young Phil Foden could be utilized in the central role, and it could be the Stockpot Iniesta to benefit most from the KDB injury.

Impressing in pre season and getting a few minutes in the League last season, Foden will be looking to get more minutes under his belt. Brahim Diaz, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez could also start wide and come inside at points.

Of course the fixture list could help out also. Not that there are any easy games in the Premier League, but our next six games are all against recently promoted sides. Either this season or last all our next six opponents had their first Premier League games after promotions.

In fact 7th October will face Liverpool at Anfield, which gives KDB around seven weeks to get back to fitness. So now it's just a case of waiting on an update from Manchester City on the expected time on the sidelines for one of last seasons assist kings.
