Predicted Lineup To Face Fulham

The Premier League restarts on Saturday with Manchester City looking to close the gap on the three teams above. Heading into the International break in fourth position, the undefeated statistic was sidelined for the struggling performances.

A draw away to Wolves, at least on the home sides performance, might not be such a bad result in the long run. More concerns for me actually came against Newcastle when, at home, we took the lead but failed to close the game out. Yes we got the result, but it was so much more difficult than it had to be and, unlike Wolves, I don't think it was much to do with a tough opposition!

So how will Pep line his side up for the visit of the Cottagers? Will he have one eye on the upcoming Champions League fixture, with that competition long being a target for the owners in particular.

Of course you have to think that Ederson will keep his place in goal. Claudio Bravo is injured of course, but you really do lose something with the distribution when Ederson isn't in nets. Depending on how the players have come back from International Break you would expect Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy to provide the pace down both wings.

At the back I think you'll see John Stones who has looked good alongside Laporte so far this season, and I think that's how we'll set up. I would normally expect to see Vincent Kompany, but he did just complete 90 with Belgium on Tuesday. Would Pep prefer to rest him for our first Champions League fixture in a few days time.

In front of those two I think you'll find Fernandinho with David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan pulling the strings just in front of the front line. So then the question is who of the multiple numbers of forward attacking players do we employ?

Certainly Sergio Aguero has to start up front for me, with the Argentinian looking on decent form this season. Then I think Pep will go old school, well from last season, with Raheem on the right with Leroy Sane returning to the lineup.

Agree or disagree? Let me know what you think.
